Position: Event Staff

Employment Type: Part-Time

This is a hands-on position, responsible for the operational and logistical tasks required to execute successful events. Event staff average 4-8 shifts monthly and can pick up additional bartending and catering shifts. 

Overview

Taylors Mill Events, LLC (TME) is seeking part-time event staff for weekend and weeknight events such as weddings, pop-up dinners, conferences, festivals, and concerts. TME operates event spaces for multiple indoor and outdoor locations at Taylors Mill, including Southern Bleachery, the Marketplace, Junto, the Hill, and the Grove.  

These positions are ideal for professionals looking for supplemental income, retirees, and college students who enjoy interacting with people and have excellent customer service skills. These positions provide flexibility for you to determine your work schedule and offer great experience in the events and hospitality sector. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Set event space as detailed in lay-out and instructed by Venue Coordinator (tables, chairs, lounge areas, and specialty items such as arches, linens, glassware).

  • Attend pre-event meeting to learn function particulars, the schedule, and client and venue expectations.

  • Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.

  • Service restrooms during the event to refresh any items (paper towels, toilet paper), empty trash, and ensure tidy and presentable environment.

  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and inviting environment throughout the event block (bus tables, collect trash, refill drink stations, clean up spills, and attend to guest needs).

  • At the end of the event, break down, clean and reset space according to Venue Coordinator’s specifications to ensure room readiness for the next function.

  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Reliable, able to work weekends, late nights and some holidays

  • Self-starter, even disposition, and customer service oriented attitude

  • Team player willing to “pitch-in” and assist co-workers with tasks and job duties

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to transport up to ~30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.

  • Adaptable to change in your work area

  • Willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones

  • Ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job

  • Comfortable asking for help whenever you are not sure how to do something

Compensation:

$10-$15, hourly commensurate with experience
